College Information & Events
04 February
Damascus College is an innovative and progressive learning institution where we strive to continually seek ways to improve, to innovate and to value add so that our students, staff and community receive the best possible educational experience possible.
We are excited to announce that the college will embark on the next stage of the Master Plan in conjunction with Law Architects, with the construction of a new Examination Centre and Gathering Space, to be located on the convent site opposite the Mercy Administration Wing.
This building is a strategic addition to the existing college facilities in order to support 21st century learning and to enhance curriculum delivery and student learning outcomes.
Designed for college and community use, this new two storey state of the art building will fill the need for a purpose built event and exam space on campus. It has been designed to be sympathetic to our bush environment and is in keeping with the current architecture on the Damascus campus.
The College will fund the construction of the project from existing reserves. This exciting project will be a 12 month build expected to commence in October 2019.
This innovative building incorporates a large event and exam space with adjoining commercial kitchen, Uniform Shop and the College Archives Centre.
We invite you to view the architect’s drawings and video provided above and below.
Parking and Traffic Implications
During the duration of construction, there will be changes to traffic management which will affect all members of our community. A plan and map for the modified parking will be made available in the coming weeks, but it would be reasonable to assume that this will come into play at the start of Term 4.
Some parking surrounding the building site will be unavailable during construction so a temporary car park will be made available above the Sustainable Racing Team (formerly EBT) shed which will be accessed via Jones Avenue. Current traffic that flows past the Mercy Administration wing and exits back onto Geelong Road will exit via Jones Avenue for the period of construction. Where possible, we ask that student drop off and pick up occur at the Shannon Centre, and we thank everyone for their patience while building is underway.
The Damascus College community is excited to see the continued development of the college facilities, so that all students and staff can Be. Our. Best.
