Student Achievement
24 May
We are excited to spend five minutes with Year 12 student Gemma O’Donnell, to hear her aspirations for university after high school.
“I would like to go to university next year as I wish to continue my studies and further my education in my interest areas.
I would like to study Biomedical Science at either LaTrobe or Deakin University next year and once completed, study my Doctor of Medicine through University of Melbourne.
After university I would like to hopefully become a Paediatrician and work in a children's hospital. I am interested in this area as I really want to help people in times of need, especially children as they are the some of the most vulnerable members of our community. I have always had an interest in working with children and have recently decided that I could do this through medicine as I am also interested in science and maths studies.
I am excited to gain independence by moving to a new city and living on res as well as gaining more knowledge in my interest areas and meeting new people that have similar interests.”
Thanks for your time, Gemma, and good luck with achieving your goal of becoming a medical doctor.
