College Information & Events
25 July
On Friday 14 July Damascus College undertook a Reflection Day designed to connect, engage and inspire our Year 9 students.
The day was led by key members of Damascus staff and Gen Bryant and her Band. Gen is a faith-led Catholic singer-songwriter, who inspires young people to find belonging, hope, and spirituality through her work as both a performer and composer.
Themes for the day included “One Small Voice” and “A World of Influencers”. During the first session small groups were formed to discuss how they use their gifts to make a difference. In the influencers session, students were introduced to the concept of being a “positive influencer” in the world and the importance of positive role models, positive self-talk and support of others.
During a creative workshop students worked together to create a verse or two for a “Rap Battle” based on the theme “Stand Up”. Designated students battled on the stage to a captivated and enthusiastic audience. The reflection day concluded with a Youth Ministry Q&A session with Year 10 students.
Congratulations to all who took part on a wonderful reflection day.
