Last week Damascus College was thrilled to welcome Graeme Kent to our beautiful campus.
Graeme presented to a variety of year 9 humanities students to share his experience and knowledge of the people of Nepal as part of their Geography curriculum in which they are learning about interconnection. Graeme, through his organisation, Aussie Action Abroad (AAA) has travelled to Nepal and provides valuable resources to people in need. The support AAA provided is essential for the survival of many, especially after the catastrophic earthquake in 2015. The people of Nepal endure frequent landslides and lesser-magnitude earthquakes every year and Graeme and his organisation provide care where they can.
Through the experience he has gained Graeme was able to present informatively on Nepal’s culture, food, clothing, schools, and mother groups.
Thank you Graeme for this engaging educational experience, as our students enjoyed your presentation and found learning about this country and its people very intriguing. We know two of the students in particular were thrilled that you gave up your time to participate (your granddaughters Lucy and Nellie were bursting with pride to have you here on campus).
