Instrumental Tutor – Woodwind/ Cello/Piano

About the Role

Damascus College is currently seeking dynamic and experienced Instrumental Tutors – Woodwind / Cello / Piano to join our growing Instrumental Music Department. These are contract positions for the 2025 school year.

The successful candidate will be engaged from approximately a half to two days of teaching on a weekly basis during the school term. Students in the program are enrolled for half hour lessons on a rotational basis during school hours each week and are charged for eight lessons per term.

It is preferable for applicants to have the ability to work, communicate with and educate students of varying skill levels (from complete beginner with no music experience to intermediate and advanced students with a good knowledge of music theory and techniques) and to overall have the ability to modify and differentiate for students with diverse learning needs.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Capacity to contribute positively to and lead student engagement in the ethos of Damascus College as a Catholic school in the Mercy tradition
  • You have the ability to teach classical and/or contemporary technique
  • You have the ability to teach the reading and writing of music
  • Previous experience in or the ability to teach the VCE music and AMEB syllabus
  • Able to modify and differentiate for students with diverse learning needs
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and administrative skills
  • Maintain a current Working with Children Check and complete annual requirements required for complying with the College’s Child Safe Standards
